BURLEY — For the third consecutive year, the Sandpoint High girls, led by seniors Taylor Mire and Alexa Tuinstra, are headed home with a third place trophy after the 5A State Golf Tournament concluded on Saturday at the River's Edge Golf Course.

The Lady Bulldogs put up consistent team scores of 353-354 between both rounds to remain steady in third. On day two, Tuinstra finished with a team-best 7-over-par 82 and placed 13th while Mire shot an 84 en route to an eighth place finish.

"All the girls finished in the upper half of all competitors," Sandpoint High head coach Mike Deprez said. "While missing claiming a championship, the girls proved to themselves at districts how good they are and can be."

For the boys, juniors Logan Roos and Everett Gilman carded 14-over par 86s during the second round as the Bulldogs finished 11th overall.

"The real victory for the boys was experience for the future and showing 'resilience shooting' for two days on very fast, unfamiliar greens," coach Deprez said. "State was well run and the course was in great shape."
