NIC homecoming week starts Wednesday
North Idaho College doesn't have a football team, but like other programs in the same boat, that isn't stopping the Cardinals from celebrating homecoming this week.
The festivities, sponsored by the North Idaho College Booster Club, begin Wednesday with Men’s and Women’s Basketball Madness at 6 p.m. at Christianson Gym. Fans will be introduced to the players and coaches, view skills demonstrations and scrimmages, and watch 3-point and dunk contests. NIC students in attendance will have a chance to win a $500 scholarship, while community members and kids can also win prizes.
The NIC women’s soccer team will face off against Snow College at 1 p.m. Thursday at Eisenwinter Field, followed by the men’s soccer team against Snow College at 3:30 p.m. NIC volleyball will take on Colorado Northwestern Community College at 6 p.m. at Christianson Gym.
The annual aAlumni wrestling dual will take place at 6 p.m. Friday at Christianson Gym.
Homecoming week will culminate on Saturday with a full day of games, all free and open to the public. The NIC women’s soccer team will play Utah State University-Eastern at 11 a.m. at Eisenwinter Field, followed by the volleyball team facing Salt Lake Community College at noon at Christianson Gym. The men’s soccer team will face Utah State University-Eastern at 1:30 p.m. at Eisenwinter Field.
A free barbecue will be held in front of Christianson Gym at 3:30 p.m., with food available on a first-come, first-served basis. The day will conclude with the wrestling Red vs. Gray Duals at 6 p.m. at Christianson Gym.
Special edition Homecoming 2024 shirts will be available at the women’s soccer game, while supplies last.
2025 Apple Cup to be played Sept. 20 at Gesa Field
Washington State University and the University of Washington have agreed to play the 2025 Apple Cup on Sept. 20, 2025 at Gesa Field in Pullman.
The matchup is the second of a five-game agreement that was signed last fall that included one neutral site contest and two homes games for each team running through the 2028 season.
The neutral site game was held last month at Lumen Field in Seattle, with Washington State winning 24-19. Of the four remaining games in the series, two will be played in Pullman, in 2025 and 2027, and two games at Husky Stadium in 2026 and 2028.
