The North Idaho College Theatre Department's production of "Almost, Maine” is now showing.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. tonight and Saturday and at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 24, 25 and 26 in the Boswell Hall Schuler Performing Arts Center on NIC’s Coeur d'Alene campus, 880 W. Garden Ave.

All performances are free and open to the public.

“Almost, Maine” is a comedy written by John Cariani in which the people of the “almost” town of Almost, Maine, make discoveries about themselves that lead to love and sometimes heartbreak, in entertaining and unexpected ways.

“It’s a really beautiful performance,” NIC Director of Theatre Joe Jacoby said in a Tuesday news release. “It veers from unabashed comedy to highly moving moments in a way that makes it really unique.”

The production is made up of nine 10-minute, one-act plays that occur simultaneously in different parts of the town while the northern lights hover in the nighttime sky. The cast consists of current and former NIC students.

“I think that audiences will be impressed with the quality of their work,” Jacoby said. “It’s going to be some special nights of theater.”
