Local artist and first-time author Summer Ward has released a children’s board book, "Huckleberry Hill."

A sweet story about adventure, befriending nature and learning to share, "Huckleberry Hill" features charming rhymes, whimsical illustrations and iconic Inland Northwest scenery for young readers to enjoy.

Ward wrote and illustrated the book after finding inspiration through the birth of her daughter and the views outside her new mountain home in North Idaho. The book was officially released in August.

While this may be her first experience in the world of publishing, Ward isn’t new to the world of the arts and creativity. She has been painting, writing and performing since she was young. In addition to visual arts, Ward is an accomplished performer and musician. She is a board-certified music therapist and has been working in health care for over 10 years. Engaging and healing her local community through the arts has always been a large part of her personal journey. She said she believes the arts bring people together.

Huckleberry Hill can be found online at skyestudiosonline.com and in small local stores.
