Edward Allen Peterson, 75, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away Oct. 4, 2024, at the Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene. Edward was born Aug. 12, 1949, in Kellogg, Idaho, a son of the late Edward and Delores (Hunter) Peterson.
Ed graduated from Kootenai High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He married Jo Ann Peterson on Aug. 20, 2005. Ed worked at Bunker Hill Mine for many years until his retirement.
Ed enjoyed spending time outdoors any chance he could. When his boys were growing up, he always took them camping and fishing. You could find him mowing the yard, splitting wood, relaxing on the porch in the fresh air or working on a car outside, even in the middle of winter. He also enjoyed doing DIY projects around the house and was also known to have a piece of chocolate cake every evening before going to bed.
Ed loved his friends and family with all of his heart. He put them first and himself last. He was ready and willing to help anyone out, whether he knew them or not, and treated everyone well regardless of who they were. He was a devoted Redskins and Seahawks football fan and enjoyed playing poker and cribbage.
In addition to his parents, Ed is preceded in death by his son, Aaron Peterson; grandson Ethan Kilbourne; stepson Chad Lee; and brother Ray Peterson.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Peterson; his sons, Dusty (Amy) Peterson and Derek Peterson; grandchildren Wade Peterson, Lilly Peterson, Gabe Kilbourne, Elayna Kilbourne and Brooklyn Lee; a brother, Jeff (Gloria) Peterson; a sister, Colleen (Don) Cochrane; and two stepchildren, Jared Lee and Mindy Kilbourne.
