One injured in Adams Co. collision

OTHELLO – One man was injured after a collision along State Route 26 near milepost 33 on Monday afternoon.
According to a Washington State Patrol press memo, Jacob Valdez, 21, of Othello, was driving eastbound on SR 26 in a construction truck and went to make a tight turn, when he slowed down, he was struck by Walter Gregorio Lopez, 21, of Othello, who was driving a 2012 Subaru Legacy.
Gregorio Lopez was transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident. It is unknown if he was wearing a seatbelt. He faces charges relating to following too close to the vehicle ahead of him.
WSP expects the Subaru to be totaled and the truck driven by Valdez sustained noticeable damage.
According to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, Othello Fire District No. 5, Othello EMS, Royal City EMS, Grant County Fire personnel and the Washington State Patrol responded to the incident.
