WALLACE FOOTBALL   

- 10/18  

Wallace 50 Coeur du Christ 36  

SILVERTON — Freshman quarterback Cooper Miller ran for 250 yards and five touchdowns for the Miners in a North Star League win over the Saints at Sather Field.  

Miller also threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Gus Scott.

Greg Hayes threw a touchdown pass to Ben Connelly in the first quarter for Coeur du Christ. Hayes also recovered a fumble in the fourth quarter.  

Freshman quarterback Grant Clemens threw for five touchdowns for Coeur du Christ (2-5, 2-3), which is scheduled to host Clark Fork next Friday at the Marimn Health Coeur Center in Worley.  

Hayes and Jon Denke each caught two TD passes for the Saints, and Eli Zember caught one.

Wallace (7-1, 4-1 NSL), hosts Lakeside Friday at Sather Field in a game that will determine the North Star League championship and determine the league's automatic berth into the state playoffs


KELLOGG FOOTBALL

Grangeville 50 Kellogg 22 

KELLOGG — The visiting Bulldogs built a 30-8 halftime lead, beating the Wildcats to clinch the Central Idaho League title at Teeters Field. 

The Wildcats forced fumbles on back-to-back possessions in the first quarter but were unable to turn them into any offense. The third quarter played out differently, as the Wildcats scored 14 unanswered points to pull within two scores of the Bulldogs, but Grangeville responded in the fourth quarter with two touchdowns of their own to ice the game.  

The Wildcats' inability to stop the run was once again on display, as Grangeville pounded the ball through the heart of Kellogg's defense throughout the contest.

Kellogg's Porter Lewis connected with junior wideout Radley McDonald four times for 190 yards and three touchdowns.  

Kellogg (3-5, 2-1 CIL) travels to Priest River next Friday in a game that could determine a 3A playoff spot.  


ST. REGIS-MULLAN FOOTBALL

St. Regis-Mullan 48 Plains 24 

PLAINS –– The Tigers dominated the Horsemen on the road.  

St. Regis-Mullan (5-2) hosts Troy this Friday for a chance to secure a playoff spot in the Montana 8-Man Playoffs.  


KELLOGG VOLLEYBALL

District Tournament  

KELLOGG — The top-seeded and host Wildcats saw their season come to a premature end, dropping back-to-back matches in the District I/II Tournament.  

Kellogg opened against Priest River, who had beaten St. Maries earlier in the day.  

The Spartans pounced on Kellogg and the Wildcats had no answer, losing the match in four sets 25-23, 25-19, 11-25, 25-18.  

Sophomore Paige Yrjana had 12 kills and 25 digs, junior Dani Henrikson 13 kills for the topseeded Wildcats against Priest River. 

“We were just pretty error ridden,” Kellogg coach Stephanie Batchelder said. “We were serving and hitting the ball into the net and played super timid and scared to make a mistake. Priest River was scrappy, but this was really on us.” 

Sophomore Ella Yrjana had 17 assists and six aces, sophomore Jordyn Stutzke 20 digs and senior Aubree Groth five blocks for Kellogg.  

With their backs against the wall, the Wildcats took on Orofino in a loser-out match. Kellogg started strong, but Orofino rattled off three straight sets to complete the reverse sweep 14-25, 18-25, 25-23, 25-12, 15-13, ending the ‘Cats’ season.  

The Maniacs would go on to beat Priest River in three sets to advance to the 3A State Play-In match later this week.  

Grangeville beat Priest River to clinch the district championship earlier in the day.  


WALLACE VOLLEYBALL

Wallace d. Lakeside 

The Wallace Miners volleyball team beat Lakeside 25-16, 25-21, 25-18 in the opening round of the 1A District I Tournament.  

Freshman Kylee Phillips stuffed the stat sheet with 14 digs, nine aces, and seven kills while going 23/23 from the serve line.

Genesis Prep d. Wallace 

POST FALLS — The Miners have not been able to figure out the Jaguars this season, as Genesis Prep beat them for a third time 25-12 25-10 25-18 in the semifinals of the 2A District 1 tournament at The Courts at Real Life. 

Kinzie Lawler had nine aces and three kills for Genesis Prep (12-9), which will play in the championship match Thursday at 7 p.m. at North Idaho College. The Jaguars will face the winner between Wallace (13-8) and Lakeside (7-7), who meet in a loser-out match Tuesday at NIC. 

Sienna Williams had four kills and six blocks for Genesis Prep, Ella Martin eight digs, four kills and two aces, Pearl Covey 15 digs and two aces, Madi Cooper seven digs, five kills and two aces, Kennedy Prendergast 30 assists, four blocks, three kills and two aces. 

For Wallace, Khepri Wood had four kills, Aubrey Birdsell six digs and four assists, Kylee Phillips six digs and three kills, Bethany Phillips five digs and three kills, Kayden Stutzke 10 assists. 



SILVER VALLEY SWIM

COEUR D’ALENE –– The Silver Valley Swimmers competed at the Lakeland Invite on Saturday.  

Swimmers Gage Wood, Aaron Berry, and Annika Kessler continued their streaks of setting individual records, Wood was also recognized as the program’s lone senior during the meet.
