Angels took Bonnie Schwegman Smith to Heaven on Oct. 9, 2024. She was born in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Clancy and Joann (Vennewitz) Schwegman. She attended the University of Minnesota, graduating with a degree in business administration and her graduate degree (MBA) from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. She met Bentley Laird Smith, Jr. in the registration line at the University of Minnesota School of Business. They married in 1981. After a long and successful career at Rosemount Inc., she retired to Whitefish with her family to fulfill her most treasured role as a devoted wife and mother. While in Montana she served on the board for the Glacier National Park Conservancy and on the board for the Whitefish Community Foundation.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bentley Jr. (Bick), wonderful son, Bentley Laird Smith III and wife Jana (Christensen) and cherished grandsons Tripp (2), Ford (1) and Cash (1); her beloved sisters, Connie Schwegman and Dawn (Pat) O’Neill; nephews and niece, Josef and Brenton Decker, John O'Neill, MD (Lauren O'Neill, MD), Regan O'Neill (Rae O'Neill) and Meara O’Neill (Nick Vissat); sister-in-law Susan Jean Smith; beloved golden retrievers; Cruise, Buddy, Bear, Jammer, JR and Tito.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Private ceremony will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations or gifts be sent to the Glacier National Park Conservancy, donations can be made by check (checks can be made out to Glacier Conservancy and mailed to P.O.
