Undefeated Florence-Carlton topples Blue Hawks

Yet another tough road game faced the Thompson Falls Blue Hawks football team.
And this road game was against Western B 11-player co-leader, Florence-Carlton, which upended the Blue Hawks 45-14 this past Friday in Florence.
Florence-Carlton, which moved to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play, got on the scoreboard first when they intercepted a T Falls pass and returned it for a touchdown. The point after touchdown (PAT) kick was good, giving the home team a 7-0 lead.
Before the first quarter came to an end, the Falcons tacked on another score via a 15-yard touchdown run. The PAT try was good, putting Florence-Carlton up 14-0 at the end of the first 12 minutes of play.
The host team cranked up their potent offense in the second quarter, scoring three touchdowns and one field goal.
Their first score came via a 49-yard pass with a successful PAT kick that put the Falcons up 21-0. A short time later, after shutting down the T Falls offense, FC stuck again, this time on a 16-yard passing touchdown. The kick was good and midway through the second quarter, the Falcons had established a 28-0 advantage.
Then, after getting the ball back, they kicked a 26-yard field goal, putting them up 31-0.
Before the first half ended, Florence scored again by air, completing a 10-yard touchdown pass. The kick was once again good and at the half, the Falcons held a 38-0 lead.
The Florence passing onslaught continued in the third quarter when the Falcons capped a drive with an eight-yard touchdown pass play. And, once again the kick was successful, putting the home boys ahead 45-0.
Thompson Falls got on the scoreboard before the third quarter ended when Sam Burgess hauled in a Kaiden Robins pass from 12 yards out, cutting the Florence lead to 45-7 when Robins kicked the PAT.
The Blue Hawks scored again in the fourth quarter on a 43-yard run by senior quarterback Bryson LeCoure, who also kicked the PAT to trim the Falcons edge to 45-14, which was the final score.
The T Falls offense piled up 254 total yards for the game, including 231 yards rushing. LeCoure had 134 yards on 16 carries, including the 43-yard TD sprint in the final quarter.
Thompson Falls threw for 23 yards during the game.
Defensively, LeCoure and Ian Myers had five tackles each to top the Blue Hawks. Noa Stevens contributed four tackles for T Falls, along with a sack.
The Blue Hawks wrap up their 2024 season with a home game against Whitehall this Friday (Oct 25) at 7 pm.
The loss to Florence-Carlton dropped T Falls to 2-6 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
