Whitefish takes third at Blocktober Classic

Whitefish placed third in the consolation bracket at the 2024 Blocktober Classic in Butte on Saturday, Oct. 19, winning eight matches total.

In pool play on Friday, Oct. 18, Whitefish picked up wins over Park (30-17), Powell Co. (30-13), Havre (30-27), Libby (30-24), Corvallis (30-13). The Lady Bulldogs also fell to Billings Central (30-24), Jefferson (30-28) and Dillon (30-27). This was good enough to finish fourth in Pool A and advance to the Blocktober consolation bracket.

In bracket play on Saturday, Whitefish opened things up by defeating Bigfork 25-14, 25-27, 15-13. This advanced them to the consolation bracket semifinals where they fell to Laurel 25-19, 19-25, 15-13.

The Lady Bulldogs ripped off a 26-24, 24-26, 15-10 win over Hardin and then defeated Park 25-18, 25-14 for third place.

Izzy Hartwig had 93 kills in the tournament, while Myli Ridgeway had 48, and Camry Kelch had 32.

Hartwig and Kaydence Blackwell each had seven aces. Hartwig also had 23 blocks. Blackwell notched 91 assists and Allie Shors had 90. Maggie Mercer had 84 digs, Ridgeway finished with 50 digs.
