PINEHURST — No other runners were in sight as Priest River High senior Brayden Lamanna crossed the finish line at the Pinehurst Golf Course on Thursday, winning the 3A Central Idaho League district title by over a full minute.

Lamanna ran a 5,000-meter time of 16 minutes and 10 seconds, almost identical to his time of 16 minutes and eight seconds at this very same location just three weeks ago.

Sophomore Daniel Gunkle posted a top 10 mark for the Spartans, finishing ninth in a new personal best time of 19 minutes and 12 seconds.

On the girls side, sophomore Alannah McLaimtaig was fifth (23:22), senior Kylee Swoboda sixth (23:40), both running to new personal best times. Junior Capri White (23:51), junior Kyla White (24:13) and senior Haley Braae (27:23) finished 8-9-10 to round out the Lady Spartans' top five.

Priest River will compete next at the 3A state championship meet set to be held Nov. 2 at Eagle Island State Park.
