PREP VOLLEYBALL: Lady Badgers punch ticket to state tourney
MAX OSWALD | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 3 weeks AGO
I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | October 24, 2024 1:00 AM

Bonners Ferry 3, Timberlake 2
BONNERS FERRY — In the opening round of the 4A Intermountain League district tournament at Bonners Ferry High, the Lady Badgers won a five-set thriller (25-23, 25-17, 18-25, 21-25, 15-9) over the Lady Tigers on Monday.
Senior Ellie Flack controlled the offense, dishing out all 45 of the Lady Badgers' assists; she also registered three aces and 14 digs on the night. Senior Helene Rae was once again impressive, digging out 27 attacks, posting a team-high 19 kills, and serving up three aces. Sophomore Taren Bateman added 16 kills, an ace and 20 digs, senior Kimberly Lucas seven kills and 16 digs, senior Rylie Kimball three total blocks and 14 digs for the Lady Badgers.
Due to Bonners Ferry being the top seed and winning the first game of districts, they automatically punched their ticket to the state tournament instead of having to face Timberlake in a best-of-three series.
Bonners Ferry will return to action Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 for the 4A state tournament which will be held at Lake City High in Coeur d'Alene.
