LOCAL WATCH: Lake City High product Stoddard shines for Northern Arizona

Northern Arizona d. Gonzaga 25-22, 25-16, 25-12: At La Jolla, Calif., Hanah Stoddard, a redshirt sophomore from Lake City High who played at Gonzaga her freshman season, had 11 kills and one block for the Lumberjacks (2-1) in a win over the Bulldogs (1-1) in the UC San Diego Invitational. Raechelle Dykstra had 20 digs for Gonzaga.

Houston d. Washington State 25-11, 18-25, 25-16, 25-19: At Omaha, Neb., Katy Ryan, a senior from Lakeland High, had 15 kills and two blocks for Washington State (0-2) in a loss to Houston (2-0) in the Omaha Invitational.

Southern Illinois d. Idaho 25-18, 25-17, 25-17: At Huntsville, Ala., Madu Fontes had nine kills and three aces for the Vandals (0-2) in a loss to the Salukis (2-0) in the Betty Austin Invitational.

Chattanooga d. Idaho 25-15, 25-13, 25-16: At Huntsville, Ala., Zuzanna Wieczorek had 13 kills and nine digs for the Vandals (0-3) in a loss to the Mocs (2-1) in the Betty Austin Invitational.

Kansas City d. Eastern Washington 25-20, 25-20, 23-25, 25-20: At Orem, Utah, Kalista Lukovich had 13 kills and Tanai Jenkins, a junior from Lake City High, had five blocks for the Eagles (1-2) in a loss to the Roos (1-2) at the Utah Valley Tournament.

College of Idaho 65, Simpson (Calif.) 0: At Caldwell, junior Tommy Hauser, the former Post Falls High star, caught a 16-yard touchdown pass from Andy Peters in the first quarter for the Yotes (2-0) in a romp over the Red Hawks (0-1) at Simplot Stadium.

Hauser, who played his first two years at Idaho, had three receptions for 28 yards.

Montana Tech 29, Georgetown (Ky.) 22: At Butte, Mont., Blake Thelen threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Wyatt Alexander with 12 seconds remaining, and the Orediggers, ranked No. 21 in NAIA, beat the third-ranked Tigers in the season opener on Thursday night.

Matt Whitcomb, a junior linebacker from Lake City High, had seven tackles for Montana Tech.
