GRIDIRON GUESSES: Why wait? Cd'A-Lewiston game tonight due to officials' shortage

It's Friday Night Lights, albeit a day early.

Due to a shortage of officials, the nonleague football game between Coeur d'Alene and Lewiston, previously scheduled for Bengal Field on Friday, will be played tonight at 7.

Coeur d'Alene beat Shadow Ridge, Nev., 31-7 last Friday in the ICCU Dome — formerly Holt Arena — by scoring 31 unanswered points.

Lewiston fell to Post Falls 47-27 last Friday at Trojan Stadium in its season opener.

This year's game will be a little different as the teams are in different classifications, with Coeur d'Alene in 6A and Lewiston in 5A. The game won't count in the Inland Empire League standings this year, but will have all the intensity of those late October matchups.

As for last week, Jason went 6-1 to move to 12-1 on the season. Mark went 5-2, and is now 11-2 on the season. Josh, with a 4-3 showing, is 9-4.

NELKE: Guessing Coeur d’Alene would have LOVED to play this game on the new artificial turf field at Lewiston High, but the stadium isn’t quite ready yet; the Bengals hope to play there later this season. Lewiston is coming off a 47-27 loss at Post Falls.  Coeur d'Alene has won 19 of the last 22 meetings with Lewiston.
