PREP GOLF: Tuinstra, Driggs shoot Sandpoint to invitational win

MAX OSWALD | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 1 year, 3 months AGO
by MAX OSWALD
I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | September 12, 2024 3:45 PM

LEWISTON — Senior Alexa Tuinstra carded a 2-over-par 73 and captured medalist honors, senior Demi Driggs scored a 9-over-par 80, a new personal best, and the Sandpoint High girls golf team took home the team title at an invitational held Thursday at the Bryden Canyon Golf Course.

Claire Loutzenhiser carded an 88, Raegan Samuels a 90, to give the Lady Bulldogs a total score of 332, 24 strokes ahead of Coeur d’Alene. Grace Loutzenhiser shot a 125 to round out Sandpoint’s top five.

On the boys side, sophomore Bode Eacret led the Bulldogs with a 12-over-par 83. Juniors Logan Roos and Logan McGrann shot 87’s, junior Everett Gilman carded an 88 to give Sandpoint a total score of 345, good enough for sixth place. Senior Aidan Rork rounded out the top five with a score of 92.

Sandpoint will be back in action Sept. 19 at the Lewiston Country Club.
