250 rocks were hidden in the wooded areas along the St. Regis Community Park. Bears that were painted gold were prize bears, as well as bears painted with ice cream cones won ice cream from Winki's.
Even Smokey the Bear from the Superior Forest Service office came by for a special visit. Following the scavenger hunt hungry bear hunters ate hot dogs and drank warm refreshments provided by the St. Regis Senior Center as they looked through their rock collections they had found. This bear hunter wanted to show Smokey his lego set he won as a prize. (Mineral Independent/Amy Quinlivan)ARTICLES BY AMY QUINLIVAN
