MOSES LAKE — Cardiologist Robert Schatz has joined the staff at Samaritan Healthcare.  

Schatz’s practice focuses on patients recovering from heart attacks or heart failure and providing preventative care to help lower the risk of heart disease, heart attack or stroke.  

“Dr. Schatz has expertise in echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), nuclear cardiology, loop recorder implantation, and lipid management,” according to a Samaritan press release. 

“I’ve always been fascinated with the idea of the heart as a motor, an amazing pump that beats up to 100,000 times a day,” Schatz said. “When patients come into my office, the majority just want to know there is a plan for their heart, to look you in the eye and know that you care.” 

Schatz received his MD from the University of Southern California. He’s a fellow of the American Academy of Cardiology, a member of the American Society of Echocardiology and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology.  

He speaks both English and Spanish.  

“Samaritan offers both preventative and recovery-focused cardiology services. Schat’s practice will include management of heart failure, post-myocardial infarction follow-up and care, as well as atrial fibrillation and chronic coronary disease,” the press release said. 

Schatz is a writer as well as a physician, with one book published; he’s in the process of writing a second one, he said. He’s a trail biker, hiker and participates in water sports.
