Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 1 week, 3 days AGO
Janet Sciuchetti passed peacefully April 6, 2025, at Orchard Ridge Senior Living in Coeur d'Alene. She was 90 years old.
Janet was born Jan. 24, 1935, in Wallace, Idaho, to Lester Sr. and Catherine (Goggin) White. She spent her childhood at the family home in Gem, Idaho, where her father was employed by the Star Mine. Janet often shared fond memories of growing up in Gem, including swimming at the Burke Pool, riding Ghiglieri's Cannonball to watch movies in Wallace and her many lifelong friends. Memories of the Branz family (Santina, Louis, John, Roger and Angela) were especially cherished.
Janet married the love of her life, Louis Sciuchetti, on April 15, 1966, in Coeur d'Alene. They settled in Kellogg and resided at the family home until Louis’ passing in 2002. Janet was the last surviving spouse of 12 children born to Serafino and Carmelina Sciuchetti, marking the end of a generation.
Janet worked in the laundry room at Shoshone Nursing Home in Silverton and later obtained her CNA license. She was active in St. Rita's Parish and an Altar Society member. Janet enjoyed visiting with lifelong friends and extended family and was heralded as the family historian.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Louis; her brother, Lester White Jr. of Spokane; and her sister, Shirley Achord of Silverton. She is survived by her sister, Myrna (Jim) Flood of Coeur d’Alene; numerous nieces, nephews and Godchildren, and her close friend and adopted family member, Joanne Mendive.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Orchard Ridge staff and Joanne Mendive for the loving care and friendship she shared with Janet.
Graveside services will be held at Riverview Cemetery at 11 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2025. The family suggests memorial donations to Hospice of North Idaho.
