NIC SOFTBALL: Cardinals drop first two against Snow in Utah

EPHRAIM, Utah — Megan Nelson singled to score Emily Hanchey to give North Idaho College a 2-1 lead in the top of the third inning, but Brenley Boydston delivered a walk-off single in the seventh to lift Snow over the Cardinals 3-2 in the second game to finish off a sweep of a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader on Friday at the Snow College Softball Complex.
Snow (16-21, 11-11 SWAC) is in third place and NIC (15-21, 7-15) is fourth in the conference standings.
Corine Doran doubled to score Hannah Brockman in the first inning to give NIC a 1-0 lead in the second game. Snow tied the game in the bottom of the inning on an error, then again at 2-2 in the fifth on a double by Brooke Fisher.
In the first game, Ayden Fitch hit a two-run home run in the first inning, and the Badgers limited the Cardinals to two hits in a 7-0 win.
The teams meet for another doubleheader today.
