PREP TRACK AND FIELD: Trojan boys 4x400 relay takes second at Pasco Invitational

PASCO, Wash. — The Post Falls boys 4x400 relay team of Trenton McLean, Giovanni Carlino, Tallan McCracken and Cobe Cameron finished second in 3 minutes, 25.92 seconds at the Pasco Invitational at Edgar Brown Stadium on Saturday.
“They did a great job,” Post Falls coach Wade Quesnell said. “They took another two seconds off their season best and thought they all did a good job.”
Carlino finished third in the 200 in 22.32 seconds and Cameron fourth in the 400 in 50.08 seconds.
Coeur d’Alene Charter junior Reagan Meine was second in the 300 hurdles in 46.11 seconds and was sixth in the 100 hurdles (16.01).
In the girls 1,600, Lake City senior Hazel Kunkel was sixth (5:04.77) and Coeur d’Alene junior Olivia May was ninth (5:11.45).
Post Falls senior Chloe Van Volkinburg was seventh in the 100 (12.69), as well as the 400 (1:00.2).
Priest River senior Brayden Lamanna now holds the triple crown of school distance records.
Lamanna, who holds the school record in the 3,200-meter and 5,000-meter (cross country) run, broke the 1,600 record with a time of 4:27.68, over five seconds faster than Cameron York's school record of 4:32.99 set in 1991. The time put him in 13th in the 38-runner field.
Lamanna doubled back in the 3,200-meter run, placing seventh out of 34 and running to record time of 9:35.67, over 11 seconds faster than his own record of 9:47.21 set earlier this season. Before this year, the record hadn't been broken since 1980 when Mark Jones ran a time of 9:51.6.
Coeur d'Alene sophomore Carr
finishes 19th in Arcadia invite
ARCADIA, Calif. — Coeur d’Alene High sophomore Wyatt Carr finished 19th in the seeded boys 3,200-meter run at the Arcadia Invitational at Arcadia High.
Carr finished in 8 minutes, 58.44 seconds. Matthew Shelly of Bentonville, Ark., won in 8:48.76.
Coeur d’Alene Charter junior Annabelle Carr was 12th in the 800-meter seeded race, finishing in 2:12.80. Grace Smith of Claremont (Calif.) High won in 2:08.55.
Carr was also 28th in the women’s 1-mile in 5:06.40. Ashlin Mallon of Cardinal Newman in Santa Rosa, Calif., won in 4:53.83.
Kootenai's Dittman wins
pole vault at Swanson meet
LAPWAI — Kootenai sophomore Tyla Dittman won the girls pole vault with a height of 8 feet, 6 inches at the Leah Swanson Memorial Meet at Lapwai High.
Kootenai’s girls sprint medley relay team of Sydney Murdock, Maddie Murdock, Avery Palmiter and Annabelle Parrish finished fourth in 2 minutes, 20.60 seconds, helping the Warriors to a sixth-place finish out of 17 teams.
Wallace senior Julian Davis won the boys high jump (5-8).
Lakeside junior Archer Brown-Sonder was fourth in the discus (113 feet, 6 ¾ inches).

Howard leads Bulldogs to
Lake Pend Oreille team title
SANDPOINT — Elia Howard shined in newly renovated David R. Demers Track & Field Complex at the Lake Pend Oreille Invitational at Sandpoint High.
A junior, Howard won the 100-meter (12.82 seconds) and 200-meter dash (26.96 seconds) and the long jump (14 feet, 8 inches) to lead the Bulldogs to a team title, edging out Bonners Ferry by 17 points.
Junior Jetta Thaete won the javelin, launching a new personal best mark of 126 feet even, over 7 1/2 feet better than her school record throw set earlier this season at the Lewiston invite. Sophomore Vivian Haag grabbed a gold in the triple jump, springing to a season-best mark of 30 feet, 6 inches.
For the Spartans, sophomore Ashlyn Korff, senior Lizzie McCracken, sophomore Jasmine Stark, and senior Kylee Swoboda took home gold in the 4x400 relay (4:38.81). McCracken added a third-place finish in the 800-meter run in 2:31.79, which ranks as No. 4 all-time in school history.
Clark Fork senior Olivia Yetter, a Lewis-Clark State College commit, was second in the 300 hurdles (55.23 seconds) and was amongst the top five in two other events.
On the boys side, Sandpoint junior Maverick Gomez won the 100-meter (11.10 seconds) and the 200-meter dashes (22.84 seconds) with new personal best times and was a part of the winning 4x100 relay with junior Isaac Schmit, senior Van Lee and junior Kamren Ziarnick that ran to a No. 3 all-time school best of 43.80 seconds.
Lee, Gomez, Schmit and sophomore Trey Blumenberg also won the 4x200 relay, running to the No. 2 all-time school best of 1:31.51.
Lee also won the pole vault (12 feet, 6 inches), clearing a new personal best while sophomore Shooter Jones clinched a gold in the triple jump (40 feet, 10.75 inches) with a new personal best leap to help the Bulldogs to a second-place team finish, just shy of Mt. Spokane.
