Josephine (Fina) McCrary Simmons, 77
Bonner County Daily Bee | UPDATED 1 year AGO
It is with deep sadness we announce Josephine (“Fina”) McCrary Simmons passed away at home from multiple system atrophy.
Fina was born March 13, 1948, on the island of Malta, Europe, to Carmen and Charles Grima — a country forever near and dear to her heart. The family emigrated to the U.S. settling in San Francisco when she was just 3.
She is predeceased by her parents; her sister, Helen; and her loving husband, Dan. She is survived by her children, Buffy (Dave) and Zak (Michelle); her dear grandchildren, Lindsay, Roger (Shelby) and David Jr.; her brother, Mike (Lori); nieces and nephews, cousins, and precious friends.
She grew up in the Bayview district of San Francisco graduating from St Vincent’s High School later living in San Diego, Denver, and then spending many years raising her children and enjoying her career at Exchange Bank in Santa Rosa, Calif. She and her husband, Dan, loved retirement in Sagle, Idaho, and traveling the entire U.S. in their RV living a life of adventure.
After Dan’s passing in 2020, Fina lived with her daughter and son-in-law in Texas.
Fina was a woman with a welcoming smile, who was a great listener, and just had a way of making you feel loved and accepted. The world lost an incredibly special lady but heaven has gained a sweet angel! We are very thankful for her precious caregivers, Julia and Tamisha, and for the sweet staff at Heart to Heart Hospice.
An intimate family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to missionmsa.org.
