Matt John Ripatti, 53, of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, died at his home on Sunday, March 30, 2025, after a valiant one-year battle against brain cancer.
He was born on September 2, 1971, in Sandpoint, Idaho, to Chris Herman Ripatti and Lucinda Charlene Leonard Tee. After serving his country honorably as a member of the U.S. Navy, Matt worked as a field service engineer for the government. He was a captain in the South Mills Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the William Clarence Jackson VFW Post 6060.
As a sports fanatic, he was a diehard Raiders and Gonzaga fan. Matt enjoyed fishing, boating, and grilling out, but most of all, he enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Kristina; his cherished daughter, Madilyn Johnson and her husband Scott Jr.; his devoted parents, Chris Herman Ripatti, Cindy Charlene Tee, and Lori Jean Koubek; two adoring sisters, Megan Ripatti-Moody (Marshell Almond) and Jenny Ripatti-Taylor (Paul); and two loving brothers, Chris Ripatti (Colleen) and Russell Ripatti; and by several nieces and nephews who loved him very much.
Matt was followed in death by his mother, Lucinda (Cindy Tee) 6 days later.
Matt will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
