A Bonner County resident was arrested Wednesday for two charges relating to an alleged child abuse incident.
Taleea R Martin, 27, was apprehended by Coeur d’Alene police April 23 before being surrendered and transferred to Bonner County. She is being held on a $500,000 bond.
Martin is facing one count of aggravated battery and one count of injury to child under 18, to-wit of one.
According to a criminal complaint, Martin is charged with aggravated battery for allegedly slamming a car door on the victim’s head, causing a permanent disability/disfigurement. Court documents also allege Martin struck the victim multiple times with a closed fist.
Additionally, a criminal complaint indicates Martin is charged with injury to child for willfully causing or permitting the child victim to “unjustifiable physical pain or mental suffering.”
Further information on the case has been sealed due to the sensitive nature of the allegations.
“Documents of materials contain highly intimate facts or statements, the publication of which would be highly objectionable to a reasonable person,” reads a motion to redact submitted by the court.
If convicted, Martin could face up to 25 years in jail and/or a $55,000 fine.
