Boundary County woman arrested for damaging Dover business

DOVER — A Bonners Ferry woman was arrested earlier this month for allegedly damaging a Dover business in March.
Karla Deanne Warkentin, 29, was arrested April 17 for two counts of malicious injury to property, to-wit over $7,000 in damages to the Nutlicious Factory. Warkentin is currently held at Bonner County Jail on a $40,000 bond.
Warkentin will appear in court April 30 for a preliminary hearing.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Nutlicious Factory had suffered similar property damages in 2023 by an unidentified woman. Documents suggest that Warkentin was a developed suspect to the crime but was ultimately never convicted.
Bonner County officials suggested Warkentin as a suspect to this year’s crime when surveillance cameras captured a white female walking around the building before picking up rocks and throwing them at a glass entry door. According to a probable cause affidavit, a grey sedan was also caught on camera, the same vehicle placed at the 2023 crime scene.
Surveillance footage also showed the suspect reusing the same rocks, throwing them at several other windows of the business, none of which broke the inner windowpanes.
Further research by Bonner County officials suggested that Warkentin had a history of damaging property, “often committing damages to property in retaliation” of being contacted by law enforcement. Documents also suggest Warkentin has numerous alerts for following law enforcement officers.
When brought in for questioning, Warkentin was documented saying “so you know it was me” after law enforcement informed her of the research that had been done on her past.
A probable cause affidavit indicates that Warkentin also told officials that damaging property brought a thrill to her.
If convicted, Warkentin could face up to two years in jail and/or a $2,000 fine.
