MOSES LAKE – As of April 28, gasoline prices in Grant and Adams counties continue to display notable variation amidst a steady national average, according to AAA.

In Grant County, motorists are currently paying an average of $4.30 per gallon, which marks a slight increase from $4.28 a gallon the previous week, according to AAA.

Adams County, however, has seen a decline, with prices now at $4.20 per gallon, down from $4.72 per gallon April 21.

The state of Washington averages $4.31 per gallon for regular gasoline, showcasing a minor increase from $4.27 per gallon recorded the week prior, according to AAA. Compared to a year ago, gas prices have gone down in the state by around 40.2 cents. Diesel is sitting at about $4.44 a gallon in the state. A 1-cent increase from the previous week and a 26.8-cent decrease from last year.

Washington residents are feeling the pinch at the pump as the state remains one of the highest in terms of fuel prices nationally, with only California at $4.79 per gallon and Hawaii at $4.49 per gallon being higher in the nation.

In contrast, the national average remains stable at $3.14 per gallon, slightly lower than last week's $3.15 and significantly lower than the previous year, representing a decrease of 50.8 cents. Diesel has also shown a decrease this week, sitting at about $3.54 per gallon. Last week, diesel averaged around $3.55 a gallon.

Local leaders say community voices shape schools, cities and trust

WARDEN — When Warden Mayor Rosaelia Martinez looked out over the audience at the April 28 Warden City Council meeting, she didn’t see empty seats. She saw neighbors. “First of all, before we start, I want to say thank you to all those that came to the meeting tonight,” Martinez said. “I know we are all busy people, and I really appreciate your input. Your time is valuable and we appreciate you being here.” That message – that showing up matters – was echoed by city and school leaders across the Columbia Basin, many of whom say public participation directly shapes decision-making, transparency and long‑term planning.
