BROWNING — Avery Caton had a monster game, hitting an inside the park home run, drove in six and started on the mound as the Whitefish Bulldogs beat the Browning Indians 21-1 in high school baseball on Monday.
Caton later added a double, as Whitefish (9-2) collected 18 hits on the day, nine of them coming in their 13-run first inning. Caton pitched just two innings, allowing one hit and one earned run as the game was called in the third inning due to the run rule.
The Bulldogs added six more runs in the top of the second inning, highlighted by Caton’s 3-run homer. Finn Ryan connected on one of his two doubles; Cullen Wallace doubled, and Carter Godsey tripled for three of Whitefish’s 10 extra base hits in the game.
Reyd Hobart went 3-for-4 with a double, scored three runs and drove in two. Tait Orme tripled as Orme and Ryan both finished with three RBIs each. Godsey added a pair of RBIs and runs scored as every Bulldog reached base at least once. The 21 runs scored was their second most of the season, only behind the 23 they scored against Plains-Hot Springs back on Mar. 11.
It was a rough day for Browning (0-9) as they are still searching for their first win of the season. Jaylyn Aimsback was credited with the loss; he didn’t record an out in the first inning as the first 14 Bulldogs reached base.
Kealin Moosewah recorded their only hit and RBI when he singled home Jorian Snow in the first inning.
Browning’s next matchup is at Columbia Falls on Thursday at 7 p.m. Whitefish will host Ronan at 5 p.m. on Thursday as well.
