COLLEGE WOMEN'S GOLF: Cardinals finish second at Plains Regional to punch ticket to nationals

GEHRING, Neb. — North Idaho College freshman Ryann Walker was the top local finisher, shooting a 81-79—160 to finish fourth in the Plains District Tournament on Tuesday at Monument Shadows Golf Course.
NIC finished second to qualify for the NJCAA Tournament May 12-15 at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in Finney County, Kan.
NIC sophomore Rien Solodan was seventh (89-73—162) to finish in the top 10.
"The girls grinded the past couple of days in 30-40 mile per hour winds yet again," NIC coach Brittany Pounds said. "We have utilized what we have learned in the winds from previous tournaments and were able to put what we learned to the test. The girls have been working really hard to get to this point. We started the season with one goal, and that was to make it to nationals. It feels good to have accomplished your goal."
Gaemphuang Ketrahong of Dodge City Community College in Kansas won with a 79-72—151, leading the Conquistadors to the district title, which included teams from Region 6, 9 and 18.
