Mary F. Mooney, 91

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mary (Futter) Mooney on April 18, 2025, at 91 years of age. She passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all who knew her.

Mary was born Jan. 25, 1934, the second child to Glenn and Emily Futter of Farmington, Wash. Their family moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, in 1944. Mary enjoyed playing saxophone in marching bands in high school and at North Idaho Junior College. She received an associate of science degree from NIJC in 1954, then her bachelor's degree in Home Economics from the University of Idaho in June 1956.

She married Fred (Jim) Mooney on June 16, 1956. They settled on their farm on Mica Flats, where they raised their four children. She was a hard-working farm wife, gardening, canning, sewing, helping with livestock and hay. Mary also served on her local election board, was a member of "Happy Family" U/I Extension Club throughout her married life, was a member of the Mica Flats Grange, and of the First Christian Church in Coeur d'Alene. She served as a sewing leader for the Jolly Workers 4-H Club.

She was predeceased by her husband Jim of 67 years, April 3, 2023.

Mary is survived by her children: Frances (Joe), Oscar (Martha), Daniel (Kathy), and Polly (Tony), grandchildren Barry Runnels, Diane Robertson, Sarah Dougall, Clyde Mooney and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, May (Mrs. Clayton Jackson), in Florida and her nieces and nephews.

English Funeral Chapel will have a viewing for the family between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. May 2, 2025. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, May 3, at 11 a.m., 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene.
