TRAVEL BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Sasquatch 12U finishes runner-up at Deer Park tourney
MAX OSWALD | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 1 year AGO
I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | August 1, 2025 1:00 AM

DEER PARK, Wash. — Brady Yarbrough struck out nine batters across three no-hit innings on the mound as the Sasquatch used a four-run sixth inning to secure a walk-off win over the Cubs to start off Settler's Day Wood Bat Tournament pool play Friday, July 25, at the Deer Park Sports Complex.
Yarbrough's pitching helped Sandpoint get out to an early lead. In the bottom of the first inning, Waylon Scott was able to reach base on an error after a line drive shot down the third base line — a shot in which the Sasquatch were able to capitalize on with the first two runs of the game.
Methow Valley responded, scoring at least one run in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, but the Sasquatch remained determined. In the final frame, Deegan Pierson, who had two hits in the contest, knocked an RBI single to bring the score to 4-3, Cubs in front. Cruz Coscarelli, after a McKinley Icardo single, hit an RBI single of his own to tie the game at 4. Later in the inning, Scott was able to reach base again on an error, scoring Icardo and Coscarelli to walk-off the game.

DEER PARK, Wash. — Brady Yarbrough struck out seven batters across three innings on the bump and put together a two-hit effort as the Sasquatch fell to the Cardinals in the Settler's Day Wood Bat Tournament championship game Sunday at the Deer Park Sports Complex.
Deegan Pierson recorded an RBI single during the fourth inning, accounting for Sandpoint's lone run. The hit scored Mike Kerfoot, who doubled to lead off the frame. Slider Reichart tallied four strikeouts over three scoreless relief innings on the mound.

Every single one of them contributed to our success. They played with grit, kept their attitudes up when things got tough, and best of all — were great teammates to each other and showed great sportsmanship to their opponents."
