Air Force airman first class Douglas A. Moore has been assigned to Fairchild AFB, Wash. Airman Moore, whose father is Robert Moore of 312 St. Claire, Sandpoint, is a 1970 SHS graduate.
Kenneth R. Carr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Carr of Clark Fork, was recently promoted to the Grade of Specialist E-4 in the U.S. Army. Carr is currently stationed in Frankfurt, Germany.
John J. Selberg, son of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy P. Selberg of Colburn, Idaho, has completed a summer phase of instruction under the U.S. Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Program. He is a student at the University of Idaho, Moscow, Idaho.
Larry M. Buchanan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gene M. Buchanan, Rt. 5, Priest River, has been assigned to Whiteman AFB, Mo. from a Canadian Air Force unit.

CHIROPRACTOR BEGINS PRACTICE
Bruce A. Gunther has opened a chiropractic practice at 514 N. Third St. in Sandpoint and now resides here with his wife Becky and 3-year old daughter Deniece. Gunther attended the Western States Chiropractic College in Portland.

ARCHITECT SERVICE PLANNED HERE
Architect Brian L. Johnston is offering service in this area, from 107 Fifth Ave., the same building as Tucker Engineering. Johnston and his wife Stormie have two children: Brannan, age 13, and Jennifer, 5.

Aug. 3, 1950 – NEW BABY SHOP OWNER
Miss Julia Powell, long time city resident, is the new proprietor of the Baby Shop, which was opened by Mrs. L.A. [Harriet] Selle in Sept. 1941. Miss Powell resigned her position in the bookkeeping department at Cady & Pier, Inc. to buy the Baby Shop. Mrs. Selle, who leaves a well-established business at 310 north First, overcame a disastrous beginning when her new business was burned out in a June 1942 fire that destroyed several business houses on north First. The Elite Beauty Salon, run by Miss Dorothy Graves in a space at the rear of the Baby Shop, will continue in its present location.

NEED $35,000 TO COMPLETE HOSPITAL
The big thermometer on the J.C. Penney Co. store front which records progress of the hospital drive is at $70,000 this week – within about $35,000 of the total needed to ensure completion of the new hospital before the old Community hospital closes Nov. 1. The committee heading the drive renewed its invitation this week for county residents to visit the new hospital and see for themselves how the work is progressing. It is open to visitors at all times.

Mrs. J.M. LaFond went to Spokane on a buying trip for fall merchandise for her millinery store.
