COEUR d’ALENE — For many years, sisters Audrey Frydenlund and Adrienne Overstreet were separated by an entire continent, with Frydenlund living in Hawaii and Overstreet on the East Coast.

Extended family drew them both to Coeur d’Alene in recent years — and now, the two are embarking on a new adventure together.

The sisters just opened Bird and Lily Boutique in the heart of downtown, which offers clothing, accessories, home goods and other locally made wares for both women and men of all ages.

Much of Bird and Lily’s inventory, handpicked and curated by Frydenlund, is sourced from local creatives. So far, goods from over 20 local vendors are being offered at the boutique.

“One of my goals for Bird and Lily is to try to bring in as many local artists as we can into the store,” Frydenlund said.

Frydenlund is no stranger to the small business world; she was among the first to sell jewelry on the online marketplace Etsy, and opened a boutique called Olivia Claire with her mother in Hawaii, which has expanded to three locations on the Big Island.

Meanwhile, Bird and Lily is Overstreet’s debut in the small business scene, and a chance to express her creative side.

Overstreet is offering custom tailored hats and works with customers on-site to find the perfect fit and style.

“I’m excited to express myself and my creative side,” Overstreet said.

The boutique’s name was inspired by a Bible verse in the book of Matthew, a tribute to both sisters’ Christian faith and the remarkable way fate has brought them back together.

“I just never thought our lives were going to collide like this,” Overstreet said. “It’s amazing.”

Bird and Lily Boutique is now open at 503 E. Sherman Ave.

Clark's 'Let it Snow' campaign is back again
