ORTING, Wash. — Sandpoint's Jeff Gove shot a 5-under-par 67 and birdied the first hole of a playoff round at the Pacific Northwest Champions Tour Qualifier held Monday at High Cedars Golf Club, booking his ticket to the Boeing Classic with a top-3 performance.

Gove, the Director of Instruction at The Idaho Club, fired in six birdies, five across the first seven holes, en route to the 67, which tied with three other golfers after all was said and done. Gove, Brad Adamonis of Ponte Vedra, Fla. and Gord Burns of Holland Landing, Ontario, all birdied the first hole of the playoff round to advance to the Boeing Classic, a PGA Tour of Champions event that is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

The 54-hole event features some of the best professional golfers over the age of 50 and will take place from Friday, Aug. 8, through Sunday, Aug. 10, at The Club at Snoqualmie Ridge. The tournament's purse is $2,300,000 in total, with the winner receiving $345,000.

Beyond golf, the Boeing Classic raises millions of dollars in charitable donations that support the Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health and other local charities, including The First Tee of Greater Seattle.
