EWU releases basketball schedules for 2025-26

CHENEY – The Eagles Men’s and Women’s basketball teams released their schedules for the upcoming 2025-26 season. The Big Sky Conference officially announced the 2025-26 conference schedules Aug. 4. 

Men 

The Men’s team is gearing up for their second season under head coach Dan Monson with a reloaded roster that includes eight new faces — six transfers and two freshmen and will face a tough non-conference slate before beginning Big Sky play in January. 

Returning players include Angelo Winkel, Tyler Powell, Jordy McKenzie, Elijah Thomas, Andrew Cook, Maddox Monson, Emmett Marquardt and Shaumba Ngoyi. Newcomers feature transfers Isaiah Moses, Kiree Huie, Johnny Radford, Alton Hamilton IV, Straton Rodgers and Jojo Anderson with freshman additions Colorado Gatorade Player of the Year Cole Scherer and French big man Alan Gballou. 

The season will begin with two exhibition games where they will first host Carrol College on Oct. 20 before taking a trip to Nevada on Oct. 25. The regular season tips off with a four-game road stretch beginning with UCLA on Nov. 1, followed by LMU on Nov. 5, Colorado on Nov. 8 and Seattle on Nov. 12. The Eagles return to Cheney for their home opener against Eastern Oregon on Nov.17 before heading back out for three more road games. 

They'll take on Central Arkansas on Nov. 23, North Texas on Nov. 25, and Denver on Dec. 3. EWU returns home to face Kansas City on Dec. 6 and Cal Baptist on Dec. 12.

One of the season's marquee matchups comes Dec. 17, as Eastern Washington faces Washington State in the highly anticipated 509 Classic in Spokane. The Eagles then close out non-conference play with two road games — at Utah on Dec. 20 and BYU on Dec. 22.

Big Sky play begins on Jan. 3 with a short trip to Moscow to face Idaho. The Eagles then return home to host Montana State on Jan. 8 and Montana on Jan. 10. A road swing follows with games at Weber State on Jan. 15 and Idaho State on Jan. 17.

EWU is back in Cheney to host Portland State on Jan. 22 and Sacramento State on Jan. 24. They close out January with a road trip to Northern Arizona on Jan. 29 and Northern Colorado on Jan. 31.

February starts on the road as Eastern visits Montana on Feb. 5 and Montana State on Feb. 7. They return home to host Idaho State on Feb. 12 and Weber State on Feb. 14.

Their final road stretch begins with games at Sacramento State on Feb. 19 and Portland State on Feb. 21.

The regular season wraps up with a three-game homestand. The Eagles will host Northern Colorado on Feb. 26, Northern Arizona on Feb. 28, and close out the schedule with Senior Night against Idaho on March 2.

The Big Sky Tournament is scheduled for March 7-11 in Boise, Idaho. 

Women 

Eastern’s women’s team is heading into the season with head coach Joddie Gleason, who will be starting her fifth year leading the team. The team will have a deep group of nine returners, including 2025 Big Sky Freshman of the Year and All-Conference Honorable Mention Kourtney Grossman. The now sophomore set the program freshman record with 314 rebounds in the 2024-25 season. 

Gleason also has two additional starters returning in senior Ella Gallatin and sophomore Jaecy Eggers. In the offseason, the Eagles signed seven newcomers with four freshmen, Elyn Bowers, Madeline Gibbs, Dylyn Dress and Emma Myers, and three transfers, Autumn Agnew from Salt Lake Community College, Caitie Gingras from Cal State Bakersfield and Brielle Magnuson from Walla Walla Junior College. 

Eastern warms up for the '25-'26 season with a scrimmage against Whitworth on Oct. 29 at home.  

The regular season officially begins Nov. 3 against Northwest University in Cheney. EWU plays 13 total non-conference games, hosting five.

The Eagles renew the cross-town rivalry against Gonzaga on Nov. 23 in Spokane.

To begin December, Eastern represents the conference in the Big Sky-Summit League Challenge, playing Denver at home on the third. They travel to Vermillion, S.D., to face South Dakota on Dec. 6.

The following week, the Eagles drive down to Pullman to meet Washington State on Dec. 14.

The non-conference slate also includes home games against Southern Utah (Nov. 13), Cal Poly (Nov. 17) and Bushnell (Dec. 29).

On the road, EWU travels to take on Arizona State (Nov. 8), Nevada (Nov. 28), Portland (Nov. 30), Santa Barbara (Dec. 18) and Cal State Bakersfield (Dec. 20).

Big Sky competition begins on Jan. 3, with Eastern playing host to Idaho to bring in the new year.

During the conference schedule, EWU hosts nine games and plays nine on the road.

Eastern then gets on the road for the Montana road trip against Montana State (Jan. 8) and Montana (Jan. 10). Back to Reese Court the next week, EWU plays Weber State (Jan. 15) and Idaho State (Jan. 17).

Following two games at home, the Eagles play their next three on the road against Portland State (Jan. 22), Sacramento State (Jan. 24) and Northern Arizona (Jan. 29).

Eastern then enjoys three games at home against Northern Colorado (Jan. 31), along with its second matchups against Montana (Feb. 5) and Montana State (Feb. 7). Second matchups continue on the road against the Bengals (Feb. 12) and the Wildcats (Feb. 14).

EWU returns home for round two games against the Hornets (Feb. 19) and Vikings (Feb. 21). They get back on the road to face the Bears (Feb. 26).

The Eagles celebrate senior day Feb. 28 against Northern Arizona. They close out the regular season March 2 against Idaho in Moscow.

Moving to the postseason, the 2026 Big Sky Tournament takes place from March 7-11 in Boise, Idaho.

CHENEY – Eastern fell in straight sets to Sacramento State on Wednesday night, according to a statement from EWU athletics. The Eagles were led by Kalista Lukovich and Alyssa Radke with seven kills apiece, while Elle Bruegman anchored the defense with 14 digs. Eastern also continued to showcase one of its season-long strengths at the net, out-blocking the Hornets 9–3 with seven solo blocks.
