The Columbia Falls summer swim team took third at the state meet in Choteau over the weekend.
“The team swam extremely well this weekend. For the last few years, Columbia Falls swim team has consistently brought Double A and Triple A level competition to State with only a 60-day training window,” coach Kyle Babcock said. “And if you know swimming it’s remarkable.”
The Wildcats broke three federation records. Quinten Babcock swam 200 free in 2:24:00; Hadley Edwards swam 100 free in 1:05:78; Payson Scribner, Kaitlyn Daniels, Asher Dyk, and Fjord Borgen of the 13-14 mixed relay team swam 200 freestyle relay in 1:57.49.
Babcock and Edwards were both high point winners in their classes and took firsts in their individual events.
The week before, the Cats won the divisional championship in Conrad, qualifying 50 swimmers for the state meet.
James McClure, Braydon Bigelow, Babcock and Edwards were high point winners.
“Every one of our swimmers work hard and have a ton of fun doing it! Thank you to our amazing community and the city pool. We are already looking forward to next summer,” Babcock said.
