Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 8 months, 1 week AGO
Regine J. Hensel, 67, our beloved mother, wife, grandmother and sister, passed away Monday, Aug. 4, 2025, after a two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Michael of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; her son, Maximilian and daughter-in-law Kelsi and granddaughter Eva Faith of Athol, Idaho; son Matthew and daughter-in-law Madeline and granddaughter Elowyn Hensel of Mesa, Ariz.; and her brother, Martin Bartel of Stuttgart, Germany.
She was born Feb. 22, 1958, in Stuttgart, Germany, the daughter of Wilhelm and Else (Braeuninger) Bartel.
Regine retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville, Pa. After retirement, she and Michael moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in 2021. She felt truly blessed to be living in this beautiful area where she enjoyed hiking, biking and camping. She quickly made many friends and treasured her friendships with all.
Regine was a former member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Lebanon, Pa., and is a current member of the Lutheran Church of the Master in Coeur d’Alene. Her faith and life’s mantra comes from John 13:34 — that we are to love one another. A memorial service will be held at the LCM at a future date.
Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Please visit Regine’s online memorial and sign her guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
