Timothy Alan Tope (Tim) peacefully passed away in Careywood, Idaho, on July 22, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Tim was born in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in 1952. In 1956, his family moved to Renton, Wash. During the family’s time in Washington, Tim fondly recalled learning woodsman skills and camping at the base of Mt. Rainer, along with going on fishing adventures with his father and friends in the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

By 1968, Tim and his family returned to Sandpoint and Tim attended Sandpoint High School. After high school, Tim went on to explore employment doing well drilling, working in sawmills and logging in Montana. Within a few years, he returned to Idaho and pursued a career operating heavy machinery.

In 1978, Tim married Darlene Peterson and had two children. Later, in 1983, he remarried to Beverly Joan Horne (Joan), and they raised their four children together. Tim and Joan were successful business owners of Granite Hill Sand and Gravel for over 25 years.

Tim truly loved the solitude of North Idaho and enjoyed working and being outdoors. He had numerous stories of his life's adventures and he found fulfillment in helping his neighbors, spending time with his grandchildren, family, friends and attending church.

Tim is preceded in death by his wife, Joan Tope; son Joshua Durr; nephew Edwin (Eddy) Rickert; his mother and father, Robert C. Tope and Sylvia (Peggy) Tope; and his uncles, Kenneth and James Tope.

Tim is survived by his children; daughter Sarah MacKay (Eric); son Clayton Tope (Shannon); daughter Emily Tope; his six grandchildren, Brennan Tibbetts, Robert J. Tope (Megan), Dawson MacKay, Dillon Tope, Elaina Tope and Elisa Tope; his great-grandchild, Weston Tope; two siblings, Heidi (George) Rickert and Honda (Jerry) Blood; along with numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

Tim will be remembered for his rambunctious sense of humor and a willingness to take bold risks, while having a warm kind-hearted spirit that cared for his family, helped his neighbors and held Christ deeply in his heart.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of North Idaho.

Tim’s celebration of life service will be officiated by Pastor Steve Brown at Cocolalla Bible Church, 4339 Cocolalla Loop Road, Cocolalla, Idaho, on Friday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. and is open to all family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to sign Tim's online guest book atcoffeltfuneral.com.

Arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service.
