Timothy K. Bowman, 76
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 8 months, 1 week AGO
Tim Bowman passed away Aug. 3, 2025, at Schneidmiller House after a battle with lung cancer. Tim was born Dec. 28, 1948, in Lexington, Neb., to James O. Bowman and Rita R. (Hopkins) Bowman.
Tim spent his childhood in Nebraska, where he had fond memories of fishing and summers spent riding horses and tending cattle on the farm. As a teenager, Tim’s family moved to Boulder, Colo. In 1976, he moved to North Idaho, where he raised his children in the Sandpoint area, before moving to Coeur d’Alene.
In 1995, Tim met Michele, his soulmate and best friend, and they built a life together that was filled with love.
Tim owned and operated Valley Fire & Safety Service for 35 years. He enjoyed working for himself and getting to know his customers.
He loved spending time in nature. He was an avid hunter and spent many hours recounting his favorite hunting stories to family and friends. He had great fun reading Pat McManus stories to his kids and, over the years, it became a tradition at family gatherings.
Tim will be remembered for his willingness to really listen, to see others and accept them and for sharing love and kindness. In the words of his favorite song, he had “a simple love like that.”
Tim is survived by his wife of 30 years, Michele; children: Asa (Taffie) Bowman, Amy Bowman, Johanna (Keith) Van Slate, and Shone (Vince) Heiss; brother Michael Bowman (Kitty Henning); sister Kathy (Jim) Reed, and sister Diane (John) Ressler; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Hillary Bowman, and his brother, Joe Bowman.
Tim will be remembered by his family and friends at a private celebration of his life.
