Coeur d'Alene Triathlon: Amann, runner-up last year, wins Olympic distance race

Daniel Amann of Spokane was the top overall finisher in Saturday’s 41st Coeur d’Alene Triathlon, finishing in 2 hours, 7 minutes and 18.2 seconds.
Amann, who was second in last year’s event, won at the Olympic distance, completing the .93-mile swim in 22 minutes, 59.6 seconds, the 24.8-mile bike ride in 1 hour, 4 minutes and 56.1 seconds and the 6.2 mile run in 37 minutes, 33.6 seconds.
Jonathan Porter of Athol was second in 2 hours, 11 minutes and 23.8 seconds.
McKenna Lee of Spokane Valley was the top female finisher, sixth overall, in 2 hours, 19 minutes and 36.4 seconds.
Shawshank Ruiz-Dempton won the Olympic team relay in 2 hours, 19 minutes and 2.2 seconds.
Shannon Horn of Post Falls won the sprint race, which consisted of a 500-meter swim, 13-mile bike ride and 3.1-mile run, in 1 hour, 9 minutes and 22.8 seconds.
Tri-Not! was the sprint relay champion in 1 hour, 24 minutes and 57.1 seconds.
Craig Martin of Spokane won the duathlon, which consisted of a 3.1-mile run, 24.8-mile bike ride and 6.2-mile run, in 2 hours, 29 minutes and 2.5 seconds.
A total of 285 individuals and 21 relay teams competed on Saturday.
