Nancy Jane Clegg, 87, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus at her home in Kalispell on June 20, 2025.

She was born on Jan. 4, 1938, in Ionia, Michigan, and raised in Linda Vista, California. She spent much of her life in business, known for her talent in organization and efficiency, and also worked with the City of Kalispell.

A woman of strong faith, Nancy served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church until her health declined. She also supported a boys’ school in Mexico, demonstrating her generous and compassionate spirit.

In her youth, Nancy was a cheerleader and tumbler at Rosary High School. She remained active throughout her life—riding go-karts with her family, hunting antelope with her husband, Jim, and even digging in the family mine. She had a great love for gourmet cooking, entertaining guests, and playing the piano.

Nancy is survived by her siblings, Maureen Innis of Kalispell, Bruce Gietzen of Ferndale, Jim Gietzen of Kentucky, Terry Janke of Kalispell, Michael Gietzen of Fernley, Nevada, and Mary Herman of Kalispell—along with their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Clegg; her parents, Robert and Bernadine Gietzen; and her siblings, Bob Gietzen, Tom Gietzen, Jeanie Deyling, and Kay Thomas.

A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Aug. 19 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 602 S. Main Street, Kalispell, MT 59901.

Memorials may be made in Nancy’s honor to Logan Hospice.

Buffalo Hill Funeral Home is caring for the family.
