BLM holding timber sale on forest lands near Pinehurst

PINEHURST – Over five million board feet will be up for grabs in a North Idaho timber sale by the Bureau of Land Management
The Coeur d’Alene District will offer the West Fork II Pine Creek timber sale, which includes about 5.6 million board feet for commercial thinning across 372 acres near Pinehurst in Shoshone County, according to a press release.
“We are committed to sustainably managing the health of the forest by controlling diseases in these timber stands, resulting in an overall ecologically balanced stand, while increasing wildfire resiliency,” said Kurt Pindel, BLM Coeur d’Alene District manager.
The sale will leave an average of 36 trees per acre, enhancing resistance and resilience to wildland fire, the release said.
Written bids will be accepted until Sept. 8 at the Coeur d’Alene District Office, 3232 W. Nursery Road, Coeur d’Alene.
