Welcome back summer friends to the next edition of the Daily Inter Lake's Local Events podcast.
If August is angry this year, it's because you and all of your best friends are out there getting after it! Montana summer's are short and action-packed. Take a deep breath and a dip in the lake, and get back out there as there's a lot to take in before the school bells chime.
Save the Date September 4th through 7th for a unique Montana event. Dozens of the world's best chainsaw artists battle for four days competing for one of the largest prize purses in chainsaw carving. Clash of the Carvers is an international chainsaw carving championship held annually in Libby, meaning people from all over the world come to compete and observe. Watch the carvers in action as they transform a giant pine log into animals, sculptures, people, who knows what! The wood chips will be flying in downtown Libby and artisans will also share their wares for sale. Carving is scheduled for each day September 4th through 7th. Win your favorite carving in two separate auctions. There are two Quick Carve auctions held on the 5th and 6th and raise a paddle at the final auction at 1:00 pm on September 7th. Championship awards will immediately follow the auction. Libby, Montana is THE place to be September 4th through 7th for amazing feats of chainsaw artistry. Visit ClashoftheCarvers.com for more information.
I love the wide diversity of events Northwest Montana has to offer! You'll also want to Save the Date for Friday, September 12th for America's Diamond – The Neil Diamond Legacy Concert at the Wachholz College Center in Kalispell. Sure to be an unforgettable evening as Jay White performs as Neil Diamond and Sharon Owens takes on the persona of Barbara Streisand. Good times have never felt so good! You'll hear the iconic hits you know and love from "Sweet Caroline" -- ba ba bah -- "America" and of course "You Don't Bring Me Flowers." You will want to bring your best glitzy glamour outfit to the concert, as we all know it's more fun to dress for the occasion. And, best of all, you won't have to travel far to see this iconic duo performed by the best tribute artists in the biz. Find more information and reserve your seat at WachholzCollegeCenter.com ... the ONLY place to get your tickets for anything happening at the Wachholz.
Your next opportunity for a high-quality tribute concert is August 15th to 17th for the Music of Motown at the O'Shaughnessy Cultural Arts Center in Whitefish. In the next installment of the Whitefish Summer Concert series, experience a powerful night of soul, R&B and gospel that will resonate with all ages.
On Saturday, August 16th the Somers Company Town Museum hosts an Old Engines Event at the Somers Mansion from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Motor over for this unique experience and explore how early 1900s farm engines worked with no electricity. I said, EARLY 1900s engines, kids, we indeed had electricity in the LATE 1900s!
Outriders Present hosts Midland with Mackenzie Carpenter on the Scout & Gather stage in Columbia Falls on Saturday, August 16th for a 6:00 pm show. Grammy-nominated Midland performs a night of old fashioned county gold with local support from Archertown.
There are limited tickets remaining for Keb'Mo & Shawn Colvin at the Wachholz College Center on Friday, August 22nd. Two amazing talents share a mix of acoustic and full band sets.
