Coeur d'Alene Crossing: Nelson wins at annual open water swim

COEUR d’ALENE — Tanner Nelson was the top overall finisher in the 14th annual Coeur d’Alene Crossing open water swim on Sunday. 

The 2.4-mile race started at Arrow Point and finished at the Hagadone Event Center. For the 1.2-mile swim, swimmers began in the middle of the lake, with the finish at the Event Center. 

Nelson finished the 2.4-mile swim in 51 minutes, 14.4 seconds.  

Tillie Sobek, a rising junior at Lake City High, was the top female finisher in the 2.4-mile race in 53:05. 

Emmersyn Haley, a rising junior at Lake City High, won the 1.2-mile race in 29:36.5.  

The event, presented by Parker Subaru, raised funds for local swim programs and split between the third-grade swim program at the Kroc Center, Lake City High and the North Idaho Water Polo Club.
