Nike Cross Regionals Northwest finds new home in Spokane

Spokane has been selected as the new home for the Nike Cross Regionals Northwest (NXR Northwest), one of the premier high school cross country meets in the country.
Previously held at Eagle Island State park outside Boise since 2007, the 2025 championship will be held at the Spokane Polo Fields on Nov. 14–15, before transitioning to the newly constructed cross country facility, The Course Spokane Valley, for future years.
Area athletes, in particular from Coeur d'Alene High, have shined at the Nike regional meet in recent years.
Along with the relocation of NXR Northwest, the Bob Firman Invitational, formerly held at Eagle Island, will also find its home at the venue next year as well. The Firman meet, a staple on the regional high school schedule for years, is not being held this year.
NXR Northwest is one of eight qualifying regional meets for Nike Cross Nationals (NXN) and draws top competitors from seven states: Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming. The event has grown into one of the most competitive and well-attended regional qualifiers in the country.
“Moving NXR Northwest and the Bob Firman XC Invitational to Spokane is a thrilling step forward,” said Ryan Canning, NXR Northwest meet director. “Partnering with Nike, Spokane Sports, and the City of Spokane Valley, we’re excited about integrating into a community with a storied running legacy. The Polo Fields in 2025 and The Course Spokane Valley in 2026 and beyond will elevate these events, and be a conduit for developing high school athletes.”
In 2024, the meet drew more than 4,000 athletes and 5,000 spectators.
