Robert 'Bob' Hamblen, 77

Robert "Bob" Duane Hamblen, 77, of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away July 28, 2025, in Spokane, Wash., due to complications from dementia and Parkinson's disease. 

Bob was born Aug. 24, 1947, in Walla Walla, Wash., to Faye and Howard Hamblen. He proudly served in the United States Army from Aug. 29, 1967, to Aug. 29, 1969, receiving an honorable discharge. After his military service, Bob began a long and dependable career as a truck driver, working from 1981 until his retirement in 2017. 

In 1974, he settled in Post Falls, Idaho, where he would spend the next five decades of his life. On Nov. 15, 1974, he married Charlotte, the love of his life and partner of 50 years. Together they built a strong, loving family and a life grounded in hard work, faith and dedication. 

Bob was preceded in death by his father, Howard Hamblen; his mother, Faye Hoffman and his bonus-father, Darrell Hoffman. 

Bob is survived by his wife, Charlotte Hamblen; son Matthew Hamblen and daughter-in-law Laura Hamblen. Bob's grandchildren: Daythian Hamblen, Lily Hamblen (great-grandchildren: Waylon Hamblen and Skylee Hamblen), Natalya Hamblen, Journey Hamblen, Austin Herth and Nicholas Herth (great-grandson: Beckem Herth). His brothers, Ernest and Vernon Hamblen, and brother-in-law Charles Bowers. 

He will be remembered as a quiet and steady presence, a hard worker, a proud veteran and a man deeply devoted to his family. His love, laughter and strength will live on through the generations he helped raise. 

A graveside service and military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025, at Evergreen Cemetery, Post Falls. Condolences to the family at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
