Full caption: The Sandpoint Strikers wasted no time kicking their fall soccer season into high gear, hosting a three-day preseason camp that brought together players from every age group. Each day focused on building a stronger game as players sharpened their technical skills, fine-tuned their passing and receiving, and tested their touch under pressure. The final day wrapped up with spirited small-sided scrimmages, filling the fields with energy, cheers, and plenty of goals. Adding to the excitement, several current Sandpoint High players made guest appearances, volunteering their time to work with the next generation of local talent. “What a great way to kick off the fall soccer season,” Sandpoint Strikers Director Angie Kerr said. “It’s important for these kiddos to see they’re part of something bigger than just a team — they’re part of a soccer community that spans multiple generations.” For more than 40 years, the Sandpoint Strikers have been a cornerstone of the local soccer scene, connecting players, families, and fans while developing talent that carries forward into high school, college, and beyond. The Strikers won’t have long to rest. Later this month, they head to Spokane for the Empire Cup before returning home to host the Pend Oreille Cup in early September — a tournament that draws more than 130 teams to Sandpoint and fills the town with visiting players, families, and fans. For the Strikers, the message is clear: the fall season is here, and they’re ready.
