'Always… Patsy Cline' live at the Hive

SANDPOINT — Country music fans and theater lovers alike are in for a treat as the hit musical "Always… Patsy Cline" comes to life on the Sandpoint stage next weekend.

This heartwarming and toe-tapping production will be performed at the Hive, bringing the legendary music and story of Patsy Cline to local audiences.

Based on a true story, "Always… Patsy Cline" is more than just a tribute to the iconic country singer — it’s a celebration of friendship, resilience, and the music that touched generations. The musical follows the unlikely bond between Patsy Cline and her biggest fan, Louise Seger, after a chance meeting in a Texas honky-tonk in 1961.

Featuring more than two dozen of Cline’s unforgettable hits —including “Crazy,” “I Fall to Pieces,” “Walkin’ After Midnight,” and “Sweet Dreams” — the show offers both laughter and tears, set to a soundtrack complete with a live band — the Bodacious Bobcats.  

The production features the soul-stirring vocal talents of local Holly Beaman as Patsy Cline, and Sandpoint’s own Kate McAlister as her hilarious sidekick, Louise. 

“This production captures the spirit of Patsy Cline, not just through her music, but through the deeply personal story of this unlikely friendship,” said McAlister. “We’re thrilled to bring this show to our community and honor the legacy of one of America’s most beloved singers.”

"Always… Patsy Cline" was written and originally directed by Ted Swindley and brought to our local stage by the Lake Pend Oreille Repertory Theatre Company. Some of the company's recent productions include "A Christmas Carol," "Steel Magnolias," and the hit musical, "Legally Blonde."  

Shows will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, and Saturday, Aug. 23, and at 2 p.m. Sunday Aug. 24.  Tickets are available at lporep.com (through the Hive) or at the door.
