PREP GOLF: McGrann leads Bulldogs at Post Falls Invite
MAX OSWALD | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 12 months AGO
I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | August 20, 2025 3:45 PM
POST FALLS — You'll hear his name on both the soccer field and at the golf course this year.
Senior Logan McGrann fired in team-best 10-over-par 82 as the Bulldogs took fifth out of six teams at the Post Falls Invite held Wednesday at The Highlands Golf Course.
Junior Bode Eacret dialed up an 87, senior Logan Roos carded a 94 and senior Micah Young finished with 97 to round out the boys' scorers on the day. Cooper Zimmerman finished with a 100 in the No. 5 spot in what was his first appearance of the season.
"I'm not worried about the boys whatsoever; it's an extremely tight golf course, there's out of bounds left and right, and a lot of water," Sandpoint High head coach Mike Deprez said. "Beautiful golf course, reasonably fair, but does make you want to tighten up a little bit. It was one of those days where they were great off the tee, but couldn't hit an iron, or vice versa. We compared well with Moscow and Lakeland. I'm happy with the way they played."
On the girls side, freshman Hannah Majors led the way with a score of 105 while Grace Loutzenhiser, in her first appearance of the season, carded a 108. Junior Aspen Little-Torrez finished with a 111 and freshman Ella Mahlum had a 122 for the Lady Bulldogs, which finished sixth out of six scoring teams.
"Couldn't be happier with every single girl being under 140," coach Deprez said. "This is their first official round of golf with the exception of Grace Loutzenhiser and Hannah Majors. They're hitting golf shots that are getting up in the air and carrying good distances. Today was a good day for all the girls' confidence."
Sandpoint travels to the Coeur d'Alene Public Golf Course on Thursday, Aug. 28 for the Lake City Invite.
