Newport Creative District hosting ice cream social
The Newport Creative District is hosting an ice cream social Saturday, Aug. 23, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Newport City Park. Admission is free.
Bring your own chair or blanket to enjoy the shows on stage. Popeye Rose Social Club will provide music, and there will be a magic show performed by Frances Morgan.
Enjoy handmade ice cream from Owen's. There will also be art activities for kids and games.
‘Trouble at the Tropicabana’ comes to Cusick
There's "Trouble at the Tropicabana" and the community is invited to join in the fun.
Out of the Box Entertainment and American Legion Post 217 invite the community to enjoy a prime rib dinner and murder mystery comedy Friday, Sept. 19, at Post 217 in Cusick, Wash.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with dinner and preshow entertainment by Slow Burn, Heather Martin, and Rob Dilcox at 6 p.m., followed by the show at 7.
The cast features Christopher Coote as the suave Ricky Barcardi, owner of the Tropicabana nightclub, and Yvonne Clark as his spirited wife, Lucy Barcardi. Danny Litowitz and Donna Maki take on the roles of Fred and Ethel, the quirky couple who add comic relief to the evening. Russ Fletcher plays the mysterious Mr. Big, accompanied by Brenda Maki as his glamorous girlfriend, Cookie. Lauretta Heaney rounds out the cast as Rosita, Ricky’s cousin and the head waitress at the club, who knows more than she lets on.
