Reum admits to camper theft, forgery and bail jumping

JEFF SMITH, Anderson Broadcasting News Director, For the Leader | Lake County Leader | UPDATED 7 months, 3 weeks AGO

A Polson woman admitted to stealing a camper, skipping court and forgery. Erica Joanne Reum, 39, entered a plea of guilty in District Court in Polson Aug. 14 to felony charges of theft, bail jumping and forgery.

The plea was entered as part of an agreement that calls for a commitment to the Montana Department of Corrections for three years with all but time served suspended on the theft charge, two years with all but time served suspended on the bail-jumping charge, and sentencing deferred for a year on the forgery charge.

According to court records, the theft case arises from an incident on Oct. 15, 2024, when the owner of a 1995 Cobra camper trailer contacted law enforcement to report her camper stolen. She indicated it was parked at the Seven Acres Lawn Court and moved to the 4100 block of Whispering Pines Drive in Pablo.

A witness at the Whispering Pines location reported to the camper’s owner that some “tweakers” moved in the week prior. One of them was described as a woman with a shaved head and tattoos, and the investigation turned to Reum.

When she was questioned about it, she indicated that she found the camper left on the side of the road, and thought it was free.

Reum was already facing forgery and bail-jumping charges.

Judge John A. Mercer set sentencing for Oct. 2. Reum is at liberty.
