SAGLE — A Spokane resident is facing charges in Bonner County for a handful of incidents allegedly committed in a Sagle campground.
Justin Raymond Scott, 35, is being charged with felony injury to child, battery on a police officer and possession of methamphetamine. Scott is also charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence (second offense), resisting an officer, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Scott is currently held at the Bonner County Jail on a $100,00 bond. He is expected to appear in court Aug. 28 for a preliminary hearing, where the court will determine if there’s enough evidence to charge Scott with the applicable felony charges.
Scott was arrested Aug. 12, after law enforcement arrived at Round Lake in Sagle for a welfare check to see Scott allegedly passed out by the waterfront with an 8-month-old infant located about one foot away from the water’s edge.
Documents indicate that an eyewitness placed Scott arriving at the campground, stumbling out of the vehicle with the infant before walking down to the beach.
A probable cause affidavit contends that medical personnel “had to administer multiple sternum rubs” to wake Scott up. Documents indicate that he woke up with heavily slurred speech and bloodshot eyes, allegedly having difficulties recollecting what year it was.
When told that he was under arrest, a probable cause affidavit notes that Scott tried to do a wrestling move, a single leg, in an attempt to wrestle the arresting officer to the ground.
After police reinforcement arrived on scene, Scott was placed in a safety restraint.
At that time, Scott’s vehicle was scheduled to be towed. Upon doing a tow vehicle inventory, law enforcement found “multiple opened containers of White Claws and an open bottle of tequila.” A marijuana vape was additionally found, along with methamphetamine.
Two breathe samples contend Scott’s blood alcohol levels were recorded at .201 and .181.
Scott has been convicted of three DUIs in the last 10 years.
